We Can Form Cones To Very Tight Tolerances

At Kucher Steels, we have a passion for everything we build. Our team is highly experienced in both concentric and eccentric reducers.

We use a unique procedure for forming cones with excellent results. All eccentric and concentric reducers can come with a Certificate of Compliance meeting all the requirements of ASME Section VIII, Division 1, UG 79.

When to Use Concentric and Eccentric Reducers

Pipe reducers are essential for a healthy piping system since they are used to manage the flow. A pipe reducer is a pipe fitting used to connect pipes of different sizes, and it’s essential to know when the situation calls for a concentric reducer and when it calls for an eccentric reducer.

You may need to connect pipes of different sizes for various reasons, and the materials flowing through will help you determine which one you should use. Although a concentric reducer is applicable for most situations and is best when you don’t require one side of the pipe fitting to be flat, there may be times where an eccentric reducer is the better choice. The most significant difference between concentric reducers and eccentric reducers is where they reduce the pipe. The concentric reducer reduces the pipe in the centre; in contrast, the eccentric does so on the side. This difference means the concentric pipe fitting has matched center lines. Eccentric reducers can also align misaligned pipes by offsetting the centerline.

In contrast, the eccentric reducer has mismatched centre lines resulting in a difference in how the materials flow through the pipe. For example, eccentric reducers are the best choice when maintaining the same top or bottom levels and allowing air and liquids to flow together without trapping air within the pipeline. Often, both can be used vertically as long as the eccentric reducer has been properly aligned, so it does not have a build-up of liquids or gasses in any particular area.

Both concentric and eccentric reducers can also work as expanders when used in the opposite direction.
